At yesterday's movie Monday, we had the phenomenal idea of doing chocolate fondue, which turned out to be totally awesome, cumulating in the melting of a giant chocolate bunny. See for yourself!

Movie Mondays
Quick update... Since I was pissed that one of my mouse breeders has a genotype he's not supposed to have (which means that I lost somewhere around 3 months of work), yesterday's movie night was just what I needed to cheer up. We had pasta night with tons of home-made sauces, a home-made Rieslingspaschtéit (more on that project later), fried dough nuts and weird Polish candy. Maybe it was the excellent Man without a Past we watched, or maybe it was just the Polish Raspberry Vodka (Ania was home and brought goodies), but it was quite fun, as you can judge by yourself here. Oh I also uploaded the pix from the Uber Spare Rib Fiesta last week here. And since we're already there, I also uploaded the pix from Saturday's BBQ in the St. Johann combined with a Kubb tournament here.
And right now I'm listening to the awsomely good new album by the Decemberists, and all the troubles seem blown away.

Fasnacht 2009 Basel Cortège

Drey Scheenschte Dääg aka Basler Fasnacht 2009
Well right now I can barely keep my eyes open, but I'll give it a shot nevertheless. These next days are referred to as the 3 most beautiful in and around Basel, and we had a couple of parties at my an Julie&Aarons place to celebrate this year's Fasnacht. Saturday was costume party at my place, and yesterday this morning at Aarons to play Wii, Beer Pong and go to the Morgensträich, which was awesome as ever... well I'm too lazy to write more, so go check the pix out yourselves.
PS: My Zoidberg costume looked better in real life... or so I hope...

New Year Bash 2009
It has been a (one) year old tradition here in the Biozentrum Basel that the Pieters lab from our floor organizes a "New Year bash" preferentially somewhere around new year... So yesterday was the day, and even though the whole Biocentre had been invited, some 50-70 people showed up on the best of all floors (the 5th) to celebrate with wine, beer, champagne and plenty of excellent food. We had a karaoke lounge that was occupied 90% of the time by Ania, Anke, Simon, Thommy, Aaron and me, proving our superhuman vocal capacities while singing the Bohemian Rhapsody and the other usual suspects. My singing skills in the meanwhile got fueled up by some fantastic Indian sweets that tasted like some kind of sugar wool melting away in your mouth, prepared by Rajesh's grandmother. It was a lot of fun, but I guess by some unknown reason, people refrained from entering our lounge... Later on, we turned to playing werewolf again, followed by ice diving and cart racing and so on. It was tons of fun, so I would like to thank all the people involved in making this possible.THE PIX ARE HERE
